Launch of new grant policy, January 2019

Following a policy review exercise in 2018, the Board have devised a more streamlined approach to their areas of funding.

The Trust now has two key areas of funding support, which incorporate the four previous strands:

  • Charities that help disabled people.
  • Charities that assist with the education and training of disadvantaged people aged 16 years or over who have left school.

The Trust seeks to encourage inclusion, integration and independence, and will provide financial assistance to registered charities delivering these types of services in Scotland.

Such charities may assist specific groups of people, for example those living with learning disabilities, mental ill health, specific types of cancer, cerebral palsy, autism, visual or physical impairments.  The term ‘Disadvantaged people’ includes those whose life experiences or environment have so far denied them opportunities to develop the skills to support themselves and contribute positively to society.
