THE CURRENT ROUND OF GRANTS HAS NOW CLOSED. Last year the Trust launched a refined grant policy. In line with Miss Hunter’s original aims, the Trust has decided to focus support on funding charities that support disabled people in Scotland.

Please review full details on the What We Fund page and the Restrictions page of this website to ensure your charity is eligible for funding support.

All grant applications to the Trust must be via the online application form button below. Hard copy and email applications will not be processed. Please scroll down to read more about deadlines and grant awards.

Online application

The NEW Application Guidelines document and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are also essential reading and can be found at the top right of this page.

Applicants should understand that with the limited funds available the Trustees have to be highly selective and are unable to assist all organisations that apply. The current success rate is around 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 applications received being awarded a grant.

The Spring/Summer 2024 round of grants has closed as of 5pm Thursday 29 February 2024. The Autumn/Winter 2024 round will open at the end of June. The Trust operates two rounds of grants per calendar year:

All grant applications will need to be submitted online before the published deadline. Each round is open for approximately 7 weeks to allow applicants to submit their form. Unfortunately, we cannot accept late submissions.

When a grant round is closed there is an assessment underway. During this 10-12 week period applicants may be contacted for further information.

New applications cannot be submitted during this assessment period, and must wait until the next round of grants opens.

The Trust looks to make maximum impact on the delivery of a project or service, and therefore the preference is to fund a greater proportion of the total project cost (TPC). Therefore, the Trust will only award grants that equate to at least 10% of the TPC.

Alternatively, your request may be for funding towards core costs (rather than a specific project/service). The Board will be more flexible with the 10% threshold as Total Annual Expenditure (TAE) is likely to be of a higher value.

Grants can offer support for 1, 2 or 3 years. The Recent Grants webpage provides information on the levels of grants awarded at recent Board meetings. Whilst most grants are between £3,000-£10,000/yr the Trust reserves a degree of flexibility on these award values. We do not award grants below the value of £3,000.

The Board will consider your requested grant value and grant term/duration as a priority. However, an alternative grant value may be awarded over a shorter timeframe if there is strong competition for funds at that round.

Applicants should note that their grant requests should factor in the date of the Board meeting, as funding will only be awarded for activities/ charity expenditure that is yet to be delivered. (i.e. grant funding cannot be awarded retrospectively/ for costs already incurred).

Applicants must read the NEW Application Guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) PDF documents found on this page, and review the eligibility criteria on our Restrictions page.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of your application prior to submission, please contact the Trust Manager.
